I’m Anna Charles. I’m the alcohol freedom coach and the author of The Off Switch. I help high-achieving people, men and women, who drink more than they want to, even though their life looks fine from the outside.

My work sits between traditional sobriety models and casual “just drink less” advice, in the place where real, lasting change actually happens.

I spent years in the same place many of my clients find themselves. Successful, capable, self-aware, and quietly drinking more than I wanted to. Nothing had blown up. Life looked fine from the outside. But alcohol had become the default, the reward at the end of the day, the thing that made evenings feel complete, social situations feel easier, stress feel manageable.

I tried cutting back. I tried rules. I tried willpower. None of it stuck.

What changed everything wasn’t trying harder. It was understanding what was actually going on, and learning a completely different set of skills. Within a year I went from drinking daily to making alcohol almost completely irrelevant in my life. Not through abstinence. Not through white-knuckling. Through genuine change at the level of identity and habit.

That experience is the foundation of everything I do with clients.

My approach is skills-based, practical, and deeply respectful of your intelligence and your autonomy. I don’t believe in willpower as a strategy. I don’t think abstinence is the only answer. And I don’t work with people as though they’re broken.

I work with people as capable adults who are learning a new skill set. Because that’s what this is.

We work on the things underneath the drinking. The habits, the identity, the emotional patterns that keep the cycle going. We build new skills, new ways of handling the moments that used to trigger a drink, and a new relationship with yourself that doesn’t need alcohol to feel complete.

The result isn’t just drinking less. It’s thinking about it less. Feeling steadier. Trusting yourself again.

The Off Switch is my book on changing your relationship with alcohol without labels, abstinence or shame. It’s the distillation of everything I’ve learned, from my own experience and from working with hundreds of clients, about what actually creates lasting change.

I’ve hosted the 90 Days Later podcast for several years, publishing over 200 episodes on changing your relationship with alcohol. It’s honest, practical and shame-free, and it’s helped thousands of people start to think differently about drinking.
