You don’t have a willpower problem. You have the wrong strategy.

You’ve already tried the obvious things. Dry January. Cutting back. Rules. Promises to yourself on Sunday mornings. And it’s not that nothing works, it’s that nothing sticks. You go a few days, maybe a few weeks, and then life happens and you’re back where you started. Frustrated. Confused. Wondering why you can handle everything else in your life but can’t seem to sort this.

Here’s what I want you to hear: that’s not a character flaw. It’s a skills gap.

Alcohol has been quietly wired into your life as a reward, a release valve, a way to switch off, feel confident, or add a little sizzle to a mundane evening. Willpower can’t touch that. What changes it is learning a completely different set of skills, ones nobody ever taught you.

That’s what we do together.

There are two ways to work with me.

1:1 Private Coaching: for you if you’re ready to change your relationship with alcohol from the ground up. Six months, fully personalised, just you and me.

The Practice: for you if you’ve already done the work and want to stay consistent. Monthly group coaching, community, and ongoing access to me.

You’re successful, capable, self-aware and deeply confused about why you can’t sort this. You drink more than you want to, but nothing has blown up. Life looks fine from the outside. You’ve tried abstinence and it didn’t feel right. You don’t want to quit forever, you want freedom. You’re exhausted by the mental battle, the negotiating, the guilt. You don’t resonate with AA, labels, or shame-based approaches. You want to trust yourself again.

You need medical support or detox. Please speak to your doctor first. You’re looking for a quick fix or a set of rules to follow. You’re not ready to do the actual work.

Most approaches to drinking focus on the drink. Logging units, counting days, white-knuckling through cravings. We don’t do that here.

We work on the things underneath. Why alcohol has the grip it does, what it’s been doing for you and how to build a life where you genuinely don’t need it to play that role anymore.

Over six months of private 1:1 coaching, we focus on understanding your patterns, not to judge them but to interrupt them. We get curious about what’s actually driving the drinking so we can change it at the root. We work on managing your mind and emotions, because stress, boredom, overwhelm and social anxiety are the moments alcohol steps in. You’ll learn how to handle them without numbing. We work with urges rather than against them, because fighting urges makes them stronger. You’ll learn how to move through them instead. We design your drinking intentionally with clear, doable plans that put you back in charge before the moment arrives. And we rebuild self-trust, because every time you do what you said you would, you become someone who can trust themselves. That changes everything.

Adrian went from 60 drinks a week and waking up drunk at 2am to 2 or 3 drinks by choice and waking clear-headed at 7am.

Noemi went from drinking a bottle a day and shutting herself off from life to loving who she is and feeling happy, full and free.

Todd went from a seven-day-a-week five o’clock habit to feeling about alcohol at 5pm the same way he does at noon. Irrelevant.

Moira went from exhausting mental negotiations about drinking to calm, clarity and freedom from the noise.

Susie went from Fridays starting the drinking cycle to Fridays being a day she simply doesn’t drink at all.

Emma went from negative self-talk and rinse-repeat drinking cycles to self-trust, assertiveness and a completely different relationship with alcohol.

Kathy went from believing alcohol made everything more fun to discovering she doesn’t need it to enjoy her life.

L.L. went from using alcohol to cope with emotions to feeling them fully and handling life with clarity.

Lily went from not trusting herself to leading her life with clarity, confidence and compassion.

Jo went from years of frustration with her drinking to trusting herself and knowing she can follow through.

“I wanted to stop being tormented by the mental battle. It wasn’t about the alcohol itself, it was about something else entirely. Now it just doesn’t have that constant nag and presence in my daily life. I just feel so much better.” Moira, Partner Director

“I’m in a really good place. I love who I am and where I am. My life is full, and I am happy. You have changed my life.” Noemi, Trustee

This is a six-month private coaching programme. We work together consistently, with enough time and depth to create lasting change, not a quick fix that fades.

What’s included: weekly 1:1 coaching sessions on Zoom, unlimited support between sessions via email or voice message, a personalised approach built entirely around your life, your patterns, and your goals, tools and frameworks tailored to where you are and full confidentiality. This work is private and it stays that way.

The commitment is six months. This isn’t a short programme and that’s intentional. Lasting change takes time to build. Clients who do the work get results that stick.

I’m Anna Charles, alcohol freedom coach and author of The Off Switch. I work with high-achieving people who want to change their relationship with alcohol without shame, labels, or all-or-nothing thinking.

Find out more about my approach and my story on my About page. You can get a sense of my approach by listening to the 90 Days Later podcast.

Do I have to stop drinking completely?

No. I don’t teach abstinence and I don’t require it. Some clients end up drinking moderately, some choose not to drink at all. But that’s a choice that comes from freedom, not a rule I impose. What we work toward is a relationship with alcohol that you’re genuinely happy with.

I’m not sure I have a serious enough problem. Is this for me?

If alcohol is taking up more mental space than you’d like, if you’re thinking about it, planning around it, feeling guilty about it, that’s enough. You don’t need to have hit rock bottom or lost anything. Most of my clients look successful from the outside. That’s exactly who this work is designed for.

Is this confidential?

Completely. What you share with me goes nowhere. Many of my clients are professionals who value their privacy. That’s always respected.

What if I’ve tried coaching or therapy before and it didn’t work?

Most approaches focus on the drink itself or on surface-level behaviour change. This work goes deeper, into the identity, habits and emotional patterns underneath. Clients who haven’t got results elsewhere often find this approach works precisely because it’s different.

How do I know if we’re a good fit?

Book a free consultation call. We’ll talk about where you are, what you want and whether working together makes sense. There’s no pressure and no obligation. You’ll leave with clarity either way.

The first call is free. We’ll spend time looking at exactly where you are and what’s getting in the way. You’ll leave with clarity on what’s driving your drinking and what needs to change.

Just you, your patterns, and a clear path forward.

You’ve already changed your relationship with alcohol. Now you want to make sure it sticks.

The Practice is a monthly group coaching community for people who are in a good place with their drinking and want to stay there. Not back at the beginning. Not starting over. Just keeping what you’ve built, front of mind, with the right people around you.

What’s included: One 90-minute group coaching call per month with Anna. Weekly prompts to keep the work active between calls. A private community of people who genuinely get it. Written coaching from Anna between calls. All replays.

Founder rate: £97 per month. Cancel any time.

The founding member price of £97 is locked in for life for anyone who joins before 31 March. After that the price becomes £149/month.
